Traci

The Donated Dress

Traci's dress was from 1991. It was a rich satin gown with a lace bodice and lace trim. The closure was a zipper at center back. A detachable bow was positioned at the back skirt.

The Construction

The skirt of the dress was taken apart and used as yardage in the jumpsuit. The pant leg of the jumpsuit was made to be wide to use up as much of the skirt fabric as possible and leave little waste behind. Lace trim and appliqués were individually picked off of the original dress and re-attached in the final jumpsuit.  Construction techniques such as overlocking were used in the final jumpsuit to mimic the techniques of the 90's

The Style

The thickness of the satin fabric of this dress was why it was chosen to become a jumpsuit. This sturdiness allowed for the pant legs to hold their shape and best show off the lace detailing.  A similar positional of lace on the jumpsuit as the dress to best honor the original style. The bow was carried over and remained unchanged.
