Mindy's dress is from 1997. It is made from a polyester satin fabric and tulle. The thick lace is covers the bodice and appliqués decorate the skirt. All lace is made of cotton fibers. The gown has a petticoat attached underneath the skirt and many layers of tulle to build volume. Off-the-shoulder sleeves attached to the bodice. Detachable satin bow.
Construction started by taking apart the original dress. The bodice was picked apart and left with the outline of the pattern pieces. The skirt was left together as well as the appliqués on the skirt were left stitched on. Bow was removed and used in accessory construction. The tulle from the skirt was re-draped on the form, along with panels from the bodice.
The skirt of this dress was was so voluminous that I wanted it to be carried over in the new style. One panel from the original bodice
