Candi's dress was from the 1980's. It had a fun textured satin fabric, and sequined lace appliqué that decorate the bodice ad hem. After cleaning, the sequins unfortunately remained color-faded.
The skirt of Candi's dress was used as yardage for cutting pattern pieces for the lingerie and accessories out of. The lace was carefully picked off and utilized as decorative trim.
Candi's dress was chosen for the lingerie style for the original gown's satin texture. This texture is fun and allowed more interest into the look. The sequins on the lace color-faded in a very interesting and colorful way. The sequins now reflect blues, greens, oranges, and yellows. For this reason the sequins were not removed in the final look, for they added a beautiful color palette and complemented the mesh skin tone. Left over scraps from construction of the lingerie were used in accessory pieces.
To best utilize as much of the original gown as possible, Candi's dress was also the foundational layer in many accessories. The most notable being Laure.N.Designs sunhats.
